With the colder weather creeping in, mornings feel stiffer, outdoor workouts are less tempting, and your gym membership might be gathering dust. If you’re looking to stay active without braving the chill or heading back into the gym, stretching at home is an excellent move — especially for those of us over 35. Below are several outstanding YouTube channels that offer top-notch stretching routines, followed by the key long-term benefits of stretching for mid-life and beyond. I've used these in our basement while everyone is asleep when I can't make it to the gym. Find a channel that is right for you and spend 15-20 minutes each morning. The great thing about this is it is all free and your body will thank you later!

    A well-known yoga channel led by instructor Adriene Mishler, Yoga With Adriene mixes accessible yoga and stretching routines suitable for all levels. Her style is friendly, calming and inviting. For example, there’s a “Total Body Yoga | Deep Stretch” practice available on her channel. 
    If you want something gentle to ease into, especially on colder mornings when your joints feel tight, this is a great pick.

  2. MadFit
    Hosted by Maddie Lymburner, MadFit includes a variety of at-home workouts, and importantly for our purpose, plenty of full-body stretch routines. For instance: “20 MIN FULL BODY STRETCH – for Stress Relief & Flexibility”. 
    This is handy if you’re short on time and want a follow-along routine that’s efficient and comfortable in your living room.

  3. Journey to Mobility
    This channel focuses on beginner-friendly stretching and mobility flows—perfect if you feel tight, haven’t stretched regularly in a while, or just want something low-pressure. Their tagline is essentially “Follow along stretching videos for beginners (& inflexible people!)”. 
    For someone over 35 easing into a more active routine, this is a great choice to build confidence and mobility.

    While slightly more advanced in places, this channel offers excellent follow-along routines focused on flexibility, hip/shoulder mobility, hamstring/hip flexor work, and is suitable for adults wanting to regain range of motion. 
    If you want to challenge yourself gradually and see real flexibility improvements, this gives you that pathway.

    Anna McNulty’s channel focuses on stretching, flexibility and follow-along routines (including splits & backbends). While many of the videos are geared toward dancers/younger people, you can still pick and choose the simpler follow-along stretches to improve overall mobility.
